2020年1月17日 · From what I've read, and unlike previous generations of BMW motorcycles (airheads/older k-bikes), this typically doesn't happen. It seems that BMW has done a much better job of figuring out the proper metal composition and treatment. BMW still recommends that you use a sticky, grease with moly in it every 12,000 miles.

2016年11月26日 · Had my eccentric shaft sensor replaced along with valve cover and valve cover gasket. During the procedure, the shop noticed a tooth missing on the half moon gear on the eccentric shaft, where the Valvetronic worm gear attaches to. But they do not believe it will cause me problems, so they finished the job.

2023年7月3日 · I'm replacing the eccentric shaft actuator on my F80 M3 w/ 50k miles and to me it looks like the teeth on the eccentric shaft are ok and I can get away without replacing it. The lighting/focus is a bit rough, but the teeth edges all look good in person. There's no chipping, cracks, or obvious damage.

2019年11月15日 · An eccentric shaft is only £600-£700 from BMW. I'm already half way there, I've already got the rocker cover off. I might as well do it. I'm just struggling to get the special tool that holds the unit in the vice to remove and fit the shaft. The cam timing tools are available on Ebay for £60 so that's no issue.

2004年2月18日 · My flywheel has a spot with 3-5 teeth that are damaged. About 1/4 of each of these teeth on the starter side of the flywheel gear is missing. Once every so many starts my starter will grind. It's a newish starter, and I assume the solonoid is in good condition, so I blame it on the damaged teeth.
