History - Temple Church
The Church was built by the Knights Templar, the order of crusading monks founded to protect pilgrims on their way to and from Jerusalem in the 12th century. The Church is in two parts: the Round and the Chancel.

Walking Tour - Temple Church
The Church was built by the Knights Templar, an order of knights who took monastic vows. The Templars were founded in 1118 to protect pilgrims to the Holy Land; they became one of the most powerful orders in Christendom.
