2022年11月14日 · We have a provider that has ordered a TF ESI to the L5/S1 and the S1. Doesn't the L5/S1 already cover the S1 area? Or does the S1 get to be counted and billed as an add on code 64484? This has been the great debate with said provider. Please help me answer this question once and for all. I will only bill the 64483 (bilate or unilat) for the L5/S1.

I read posts from 2010 that say that is not typically done because the facet injection is diagnostic and the TF ESI defeats the purpose, but I was hoping to get updated information. I do not see any CCI edits that say the two can't be billed together.

I've gotten to the point where if we did enough levels of TF ESI, I don't even report the SI Joint Injection because I just know it will cause exhausting denials that will never be paid because the carriers can simply say "See NCCI Edits" and not pay for all the services.
