I think it worked partly because while the three were not that popular individually, they were the core of The Avengers which was a big property--I think "The Avengers" brand was about the same level as Hulk or Wolverine pre-MCU (Spider-Man I think was about the same level as the X-Men in total, so a little higher than Wolverine as an individual character).

Absolutely. The FF moving into the MCU will be big. Maybe a trilogy. I could see Galactus and Doom (sporting a pair of Quantum Bands) stirring up trouble, and it will take the FF and some existing top-tier MCU characters to win the day. The X-Men could slide into the MCU in a similar manner over a trilogy of films.

2021年9月10日 · Prior to the MCU the Hulk was not really thought of as an Avenger. He may have been a founding member but he left the team and never permanently rejoined since the 60s. I imagine the MCU used the big three or most iconic Avengers of the comics to focus on first so Hulk would never have fot that IMO.

2020年12月13日 · Marvel, at least before the MCU. Had three big teams such as the FF, Xmen, and avengers and spider man worked alone for the most part. So their most iconic characters weren't tied to the same group allowing the spotlight to shine on different characters more evenly. For now I think it would be the Avnegrs big three such as Thor, Cap and Tony.

2023年7月2日 · Some of them are really iconic(X-Men, F4, Flash, etc.) but it seems even after tons and tons of superhero movies, specially MCU movies, the big three havn't changed a bit. Before MCU, every non comic-reader knew who Superman/Batman and Spider-Man were and still they managed to keep their popularity unmatched.

The MCU may have also just outgrown the smaller stage where three characters can be at the forefront. There's so many characters now, with more on the way. Rather than the big three being three characters, it might just end up being the next big three being The Avengers, The X-Men and the Fantastic Four.

When i did some digging, I found more evidence that Captain America, Iron Man, and Thor were Marvel’s Trinity, even before the MCU. From the Avengers Comics of the 80s & 90s having them usually having them around, to Hawkeye even calling them the Big Three. So no, there’s zero evidence that Spider-Man Hulk & Wolverine were Marvel’s Trinity.

2020年5月22日 · I don't think so black panthers importance has been way lower then those three characters. Also most of the things black panther deals with is almost outside the MCU where as Dr.Strange Spider-Man and Captain Marvel have had things that are essential to the MCU.
