thoughts on people calling autism "the tism/ a touch of the tism"
2022年12月31日 · I'll say stuff "Thanks to the 'tism I've been nonstop thinking about Evangelion" or "The tism has won today, I've played Splatoon 3 for 5 hours straight". I just think it's fun, and makes me feel like even on the days where everything feels impossible there's something a little fun, even if it's just a shortening of a word.

And it’s quite a pretty Marbled Gold colour – a befitting colour for TISM’s only Gold Record album. The CD has been reissued as well, in a striking card wallet encased in a cardboard box. TISM’s follow up album www.tism.wanker.com has been expanded to a 4CD or 7LP box set, containing: The original www.tism.wanker.com album.
Ok guys, educate me - what's "tism"? : r/MauLer - Reddit
Tism is short for autism. It ain't derogatory by nature. However colloquially, assholes can always use words for poorer use. The act of shortening words for an edgier bit, can imply the intent of trying to walk around the line of societal acceptability, but it really is just a contraction.

Thoughts on the word 'tism' and 'auti' : r/autism - Reddit
Only my autistic friends say tism, the one who said auti was allistic I think (undiagnosed, has never even briefly mentioned it, etc). Auti seems like it's supposed to be 'an autistic person' while tism appears to just mean 'autistic' so I think they're used differently if auti is used at all. Tbh at first I thought they meant the car XD

2022年12月23日 · “Not that I condone tism, or any -ism for that matter. -Ism's in my opinion are not good. A person should not believe in an -ism, he should believe in himself. I quote John Lennon, "I don't believe in Beatles, I just believe in me." Good point there. After all, he was the walrus. I could be the walrus. I'd still have to bum rides off people.”

"Touch of the 'tism" : r/autism - Reddit
I think “‘tism” is just another case of a word getting shortened. Reasons can be either making it quicker/easier to say, or it just the internet using it a lot, so people unironically start using it irl. (This is very common) Especially “‘tism” because of the phrase “a touch of the tism”.

2023年2月6日 · I say (or said) “Tis the tism” to explain my behaviour to my friends or family bc it was quick. Now everyone is going “I have a touch of the tism” as if it isn’t just as offensive as “everyone’s a little autistic” so it’s just another thing the internet wrecked for me

I also say things like “touch of the tism” — people act weird when you say you’re autistic — denying it to your face, saying you seem totally normal, etc — people act as though you’ve disclosed a terrible embarrassing illness like saying “I have a dysfunctional anal sphincter and squirt poop” at the water cooler.
