Tich was LBSC’s effort to design a beginners locomotive in 3.5” gauge that could be driven on a track. There has been controversy ever since about what the best way to achieve that, but certainly Tich has had plenty of builders, and in larger gauges, too.

2022年2月22日 · I was able to completely model 3-1/2 gauge Tich and animate the result, as shown below. I have found there are a number of small but important errors in the details given in the Model Engineer. If folks knew about them and had access to these 3d models it would help them have a much better experience building.

2020年4月15日 · According to the former AJReevesLtd, gleaned 20 years ago from their records of number of castings sets sold, the TICH is the single most-built live steam locomotive in history. The #2 engine, at over 10,000 sets sold, is probably the 1/4" scale 4-8-4 offered beginning in the 1930s by the Little Engine Co. of Lomita California.

A 3 1/2 inch gauge small-boiler Tich, the original incarnation of LBSC's popular beginner's locomotive. Whilst engines deemed suitable for a beginner to learn to drive with have got bigger over the years, there's still nothing nicer looking to put on your bookshelf than one of these!

Tich is an 0-4-0 Tank locomotive designed by LBSC to resemble a Contractors engine based on an original drawing by Leslie Clarke. It is available in both large and small round-top boiler variants as well as the version that LBSC built for himself, a 'large' Belpaire boiler version.

3.5" Tich 0-4-0 LBSC live steam tank locomotive for sale. A completed engine that several years ago was run on air (through the boiler) according to the builder. Looks extremely well made with all the extras one would like to see including: brakes, axel pump, whistle, lubricator, brass platework (cab, tanks, smokebox, running boards...) etc.

A 5 inch gauge "Tich" 0-4-0T locomotive, scaled up from LBSC's 3 1/2 inch gauge design and built as the original small-boilered, Walschaerts gear version. Completed in 1999, it's come to us from the builder, an experienced model engineer, along with his 5 inch gauge "Achilles" 0-6-0T.
