2015年2月16日 · A rebuilt Little Giant power hammer in working order will list for $4,500. An alternative is the Clay Spencer Tire Hammer. I have seen old postings of blacksmithing clubs building them as projects. For me with no local clubs (and work) such opportunities most unlikely any time soon. The Spencer plans I purchased did not include a material list.

2005年10月3日 · Trying the Phoenix hammer at Larry Harley's last spring was great, and also it inspired me to think how nice an anvil that size would work on a tire hammer If I understand correctly, the tire serves as the flywheel so a bigger tire might be needed for a heavier ram.

2016年5月15日 · Hi, I'm in the end-planning process for a power hammer, after debating the pros and cons for the model, I'm deciding to build a tire hammer mostly base on the great DP120 make by Dave Preston, but I can't find a place where to buy the plans for the "original tire hammer", that's mainly for the du...

2020年4月22日 · I am currently building my tire hammer. Its a ray clontz one. The plans are available online for $30. I'm expecting about $1500 for the build. 50# hammer. Very close to a 2'x2' footprint saves me soooo much space in my small garage. I would probably charge 500-750 to build one for someone else. Just fyi.
Tire Hammer vs Appalachian Spring Hammer - Tools and Tool …
2017年3月7日 · A well-built tire hammer is the equal of a commercial mechanical hammer like the Little Giant. A bit more control than a spring helve type in my limited experience with both, since with a spring helve you have to balance the spring stiffness to the speed or it'll just flail around and start hopping all over the place if you exceed the proper speed.

2024年9月16日 · I just poured a 24” thick base for my new 70lb tire hammer. I’ve seen a lot of conflicting advice about concrete cure times. Most I’ve read recommend 28 days for curing but one recommended 28 days for every 1” of concrete thickness. Do the math and that’s 672 days. Seems a little extreme. Looking for some voices of reason here. Thanks

2013年1月16日 · A tire hammer is a great tool, if properly built, and you will get the admiring looks from all of the blacksmith groupies . I have a home built #50 (not a tire system, but home built in any case). I use it for tangs and taper mostly. It depends a lot on your skills, money, time, and what you want to do with it.

2005年12月12日 · the 4000pound hammer I worked with (not for making damascus, unfortunatly )had approx. 1:14, which was very good... but it was no "drawing hammer" in the common sense... we used it to shape large pieces, to forge rings, drive-shafts, ... whatever large. but the 800pound beche, which was close to 1:18 was a hell of a hammer... used this to make ...

2011年3月24日 · Here is the info on ‘Spronk’, my homebuilt mechanical power hammer. It is based on the Appalachian style Rusty/Dusty hammer. It has a 40 pound ram (including die) and runs on a 1.5 hp 1710 rpm TFEC motor. The main spring is 42” x 3/16 x 2.5” with a top and bottom support spring at 30” x 3/16 x 2.5”.
