For posterior (PLIF) or transforaminal (TLIF) approach lumbar interbody fusions, CPT code 22630 is used, and the dissection needed to access the disc space in these approaches is considered an incidental component of the fusion procedure.

It's definitely easier to leave it out but I just don't want to shortchange the docs on RVU payments just because insurance bundles everything. I highly doubt the RVU for the TLIF was adjusted for the decompression value being included.
