Toei Company was established in 1949 as Tokyo Eiga Haikyuu, the distribution arm of the Toyoko Eiga Company. In 1951, Tokyo Eiga Haikyuu absorbed Tokyo Eiga and rebranded itself to Toei Company with the Tokyo Eiga symbol carrying over.

Toei Animation is a Japanese animation studio partially owned by Toei Company. It was established in 1956 at the former Tokyo-Ōizumi animation studio by purchasing the assets of Nihon Douga KK. By the mid-60's, the company began producing anime for television.

Sometime around 1981, the studio began using a symbol as a corporate logo, which features Pero, the protagonist of Toei Animation's Puss'n Boots franchise.

Toei TV Production Co., Ltd. (株式会社東映テレビ・プロダクション), also known as Toei TVP, is the television production division (with occasional ventures in theatrical films) of Toei Company.
