Back in the 70s Bernard Rhodes sailed his 22ft plywood Trimaran, Klis from the UK to New Zealand, somehow i cant imagine doing that in an F24. My point is the older tris struck a much better balance between weight, displacement , sail area etc producing seaworthy boats with a reasonable turn of speed, typically better than similar sized monos.

2008年11月4日 · The newer trimaran designs are far far better. For a performance/racer you cant beat Ian Farrier but his designs are too race orientated for me. Trimarans, designed for cruising, have a lot going for them. The key factor is designed for cruising. They are also less expensive to build than a catamaran.

2024年12月25日 · I would like to build my own 27' trimaran boat with an 8'-6" beam using a one-piece fiberglass hull and use a 250 hp outboard, and would weigh 7,000 lbs. max., fully loaded with fuel, gear and people. I would like to have this boat go 35-40 mph. I do not like the round aluminum pontoons that all tritoon manufacturers put under their boats.
