2011年3月21日 · Re: Evinrude 40 hp problem. You are working on a two-stroke engine so forget everything you think you know about four stroke auto engines. Ignition timing and carb operation is synchronized for a reason on a two stroke. Slow idle, quick throttle response and safe WOT operation require proper carb and timing sync.

2013年10月13日 · My main issue now is that the motor which is an Evinrude e40elcud, 1987 with a VRO fuel pump. The oil line is disconnected and I mix the gas 50:1 2 cycle oil. The motor starts very easy and will idle without shutting down.

2020年8月3日 · Checked the spark air gap which is good to 7/16" and set the correct spark plugs to .030. Installed new fuel pump (model with two nipples). Checked the primer solenoid for clicking and replaced the top end parts. Set the various linkages to OMC specs per their video. Gas is fresh and oil is at 50:1 ratio.

2014年7月4日 · I have a 40 HP Evinrude VRO (1990) that had the oil side bypassed when I purchased it. I use a 50:1 mix. It never really ran well from day one was always tough to start. The biggest problem was that I could never keep it running in low speed. I rebuilt the carbs, replaced the spark plugs and in line fuel filter and gas.

Problems with the Evinrude 40HP outboard can include the starter motor not functioning, the engine not starting, the engine not turning off, power loss and the vessel not making forward progress. These kinds of problems can be corrected by following some troubleshooting steps. Fill the fuel tank if the Evinrude 40HP won't start.
