The Tupolev Tu-2 (development names ANT-58 and 103; NATO reporting name Bat) is a twin-engined Soviet high-speed daylight and frontline bomber aircraft used during World War II. The Tu-2 was tailored to meet a requirement for a high-speed bomber or dive-bomber, with a large internal bomb load and speed similar to that of a single-seat fighter.

Tu-2Sh heavy attack aircraft. In 1944, on the basis of the Tu-2S high-speed dive bomber, an unusual weapon system, the Fiery Hedgehog, was tested as an experiment. The system consisted of 88 units of Shpagin submachine guns (PPSh) installed on the platform.

Development of a bomber began Tu-2 at the end of 1939. This airplane, as well as Pe-2 formed in prison conditions, but it became the best Soviet bomber of WW2. In January, 1941 the prototype airplane designated "103" has issued on tests.
