Tunji Beier at the age of ten was studying Yoruba drumming in Nigeria. Six years later he travelled to Bangalore in South India to study percussion for three years at the Karnakata College of Percussion under the mentorship of Mr TAS Mani.

Tunji Beier is a percussionist who performs improvisations and compositions drawing on various traditions that have influenced him, especially South Indian, Yoruba and Middle Eastern traditions.

Since Returning to Australia in 2002 Tunji has made a career as a percussionist in fusion, jazz, world and contemporary classical musical forms. He has worked with many great Australian musicians on recording, touring and co-designed projects.
