2025年1月16日 · The Tupolev Tu-2, designed under extraordinary circumstances, played a crucial role in the Soviet Union’s fight against German forces. Its versatility, durability, and performance made it a standout among the many bombers of the era.

Development of a bomber began Tu-2 at the end of 1939. This airplane, as well as Pe-2 formed in prison conditions, but it became the best Soviet bomber of WW2. In January, 1941 the prototype airplane designated "103" has issued on tests.

For the creation and organization of serial production of the Tu-2 bomber A.N. Tupolev was awarded the Stalin Prize of the 1st degree in 1943, in 1944 - the Order of the Patriotic War of the 1st degree and the Order of Suvorov of the 2nd degree, and was also promoted to major general of the engineering and technical service.

The Tu-2 was the USSR's second important twin-engined bomber, the design brought Andrei Tupolev back into favour after a period of detention. The Tu-2 remained in service until 1950. Some Chinese Tu-2s were encountered by British and American airman during the Korean War.
