German submarine U-185 was a Type IXC/40 U-boat of Nazi Germany 's Kriegsmarine built for service during World War II. Under the command of Kapitänleutnant August Maus, she had some success against Allied aircraft in World War II.

On 12 July 1943 some 90 miles (145 km) off Recife, Brazil, U-185 was attacked by a US Liberator aircraft (VB-107 USN/B-7). Although the bomber crew believed they had crippled the boat, U-185s radio report stated the attack caused only minor damage.

2011年10月13日 · U-564 sank with the loss of twenty-eight crew members, but eighteen men were rescued by U-185, including the commander, and transferred to two German destroyers. Continuing its cruise, U-185 sank five merchant vessels and damged another.
