German submarine U-219 was a Type XB submarine of Nazi Germany's Kriegsmarine during World War II. The U-boat was laid down on 31 May 1941 at the Germaniawerft yard at Kiel as yard number 625, launched on 6 October 1942, and commissioned on 12 December 1942 under the command of Korvettenkapitän Walter Burghagen.

Taken over by Japan at Jakarta, Indonesia on 5 May 1945 in Batavia and became the Japanese submarine I 505 on 15 July 1945. Surrendered at Jakarta in August 1945. Sunk by gunfire from the Royal Netherlands Navy destroyer HNMS Kortenaer (ex-HMS Scorpion) south of the Sunda Strait, between Java and Sumatra, on 3 February 1946.

U 219 war ein deutsches U-Boot vom Typ X (Minenleger), das im Zweiten Weltkrieg von der deutschen Kriegsmarine eingesetzt wurde.
