German submarine U-569 was a Type VIIC U-boat of Nazi Germany's Kriegsmarine during World War II. She carried out nine patrols, sank one ship of 984 gross register tons (GRT) and damaged one other of 4,458 GRT.

Scuttled on 22 May 1943 in the North Atlantic east of Newfoundland, in position 50.40N, 35.21W, after being badly damaged by depth charges from two Avenger aircraft (VC-9 USN/T-6 & T-7) of the US escort carrier USS Bogue. 21 dead and 25 survivors. USS Bogue 's first victim: Lt. Chamberlain's attack on U-569 as viewed from the rear of his aircraft.

Es gehörte zu den U-Boot-Gruppen Schlagetot und Raubritter. Nach 31 Tagen und zurückgelegten 5.549 sm, lief U 569 am 12.11.1941 wieder in St. Nazaire ein.

2011年10月25日 · It was found on the surface on 22 May 1943 about 600 miles south-west of Greenland by TBF-1 Avengers of Composite Squadron VC-1 operating from the escort carrier USS Bogue, which was sailing with convoy ON184. The first to attack was Lieutenant (jg) W.F. Chamberlain, whose bombs straddled the target.
