U3Si2 has a number of advantageous thermophysical properties, which motivate its use as an accident tolerant fuel. This preliminary model evaluates the behavior of U3Si2 using available thermophysical data to predict the cladding-fuel pellet temperature and stress using the fuel performance code: BISON.

2017年7月5日 · This research characterizes U3Si2 pellets and analyzes U3Si2 under light water reactor conditions using the fuel performance code BISON. While some thermophysical properties for U3Si2 have been found in the literature, the irradiation behavior is sparse and limited to experience with dispersion fuels.

Both UN and U 3 Si 2 have the advantages of high uranium density and high thermal conductivity, and the thermal conductivity increases with the increase of temperature. However, they both have certain deficiencies, which limit their future applications in Pressurized Water Reactor (PWR).
