Potential award winners were announced for the Eddie Robinson Award, Walter Payton Award, Buck Buchanan Award and the Jerry Rice Award.

The United Athletic Conference (UAC), also known as The United, is an NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) intercollegiate athletic conference. The conference is a merger of the existing football leagues of the Atlantic Sun Conference (ASUN) and Western Athletic Conference (WAC).

All three universities in McMurry, Hardin-Simmons, and ACU emerged as conference champions in their respective conferences. McMurry. The Warhawks ended their season 7-3 overall and 7-1 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference. They hold the SCAC conference title along with Texas Lutheran who also finished 7-1 in conference play.
