The Computational Biology (CBIO) division at the University of Cape Town (UCT) is the centre of bioinformatics activities at the university. It forms part of the Department of Integrative Biomedical Sciences and is located within the Institute of Infectious Disease and Molecular Medicine (IDM), in the Faculty of Health Sciences.

The Computational Biology division at UCT offers bioinformatics training at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. Through H3ABionet, it also provides shorter, specialised bioinformatics training courses throughout the year and an annual general introductory course with bi-weekly sessions over a three-month period.

At UCT her research focuses on genetic determinants of susceptibility to disease, African genome variation, microbiomes, genomics and infectious diseases from the host and pathogen perspectives. Her group provides bioinformatics services for local researchers, through which they develop visualization and analysis tools for high-throughput biology.
