Our students are able to study a wider range of artistic cultures, periods and forms than in any other art history department in the UK. We are ranked top 10 in the UK for History of Art, Architecture and Design (The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2016 and Complete University Guide 2017).

Focused around six themes, our research spans the global challenges: from meeting the needs of an ageing population, to understanding the unique and fragile environments we live in, to tackling energy, food and water security so we can make the best use of our planet’s resources.
