SN 2010jl in UGC 5189: Yet Another Luminous Type IIn
We compile oxygen abundances from the literature and from our own observations of UGC 5189, and we present an unpublished spectrum of the luminous type Ic SN 2010gx that we use to estimate its host metallicity. We discuss these in the context of host metallicity trends for different classes of core-collapse objects.

2024年1月16日 · A new Hubble Space Telescope image shows the tiny galaxy UGC 5189A, located about 150 million light-years away in the constellation Leo, in stunning detail.
Stunning Supernova Remnant Leaves Beautiful Echoes in Space
2024年1月16日 · 150 million light-years from Earth, a relatively small galaxy, UGC 5189A, was the site of a massive supernova, a super-powerful star explosion. The dwarf galaxy in the constellation Leo was first...
UGC 5189, has a low gas-phase oxygen abundance (12 + log(O/H) = 8.2 ±0.1), which reinforces the emerging trend that over-luminous core-collapse supernovae are found in the low-metallicity tail of the galaxy distribution, similar to the known trend for the hosts of long GRBs. We compile oxygen abundances from
X-RAY AND RADIO EMISSION FROM TYPE IIn SUPERNOVA SN 2010jl
2015年8月26日 · The SN 2010jl FOV in Chandra observations at various epochs shows UGC 5189A to be an X-ray emitter. However, no X-ray emission is seen from MCG +02-25-021 GROUP or SDSS J094253.47+092943.5. Thus we need to make sure that the UGC 5189A does not contaminate the SN 2010jl flux in Chandra data.

2024年1月15日 · This image features a relatively small galaxy known as UGC 5189A. It is located about 150 million light-years away in the constellation Leo. This galaxy was observed by Hubble to study a supernova explosion in 2010 known as SN 2010jl. This particular supernova was notable for having been an exceptionally luminous supernova event.
UGC 5189 GalaxyFacts - Universe Guide
UGC 5189 is a Galaxy located in the constellation of Leo in the northern hemisphere. UGC 5189 is not a Messier Object and doesn't have a Messier Number. The galaxy is separate and distinct, not in Milky Way galaxy or The Solar System. Nothing indicates Exoplanets with or without Alien life forms orbiting any of the many stars the galaxy has.
