Design looks at creative ways to solve problems and innovate for the future. The practice of design has dramatically evolved in response to emerging technologies and the growing need for industries to respond to a rapidly changing world.

The Bachelor of Design introduces you to design thinking, tools and technologies. It also explores how contemporary design is utilised in various sectors to boost innovation and productivity. You will learn the value of idea generation, prototyping, and user experience, all while considering the social, ethical and economic implications of design.

Selection criteria are available from the Faculty of Creative Arts and Industries. 1 A student enrolled for this degree must follow a programme of the equivalent of six full-time semesters and pass courses with a total value of 360 points, unless credit is granted under the Admission Regulations and/or the Credit Regulations.

Some of the design technologies we will explore will include immersive technologies (AR, VR, MR), procedural content generation, 3D modelling & printing, rapid prototyping tools, motion capture, artificial intelligence, machine learning, remote collaboration tools, virtual production and display tools, and others.

Introduces students to key tools, methods and processes of design planning, strategy and practice. Students learn to apply design thinking and technologies to real world contexts and issues. A course of studio–based study focused on a series of creative, hands-on projects and supported by lectures.
