UREC develops its staff through professional growth, hands-on experience, education, and workmanship. University Recreation employs around 400 student employees in a variety of program areas.

The Department of University Recreation (UREC) is a major campus-wide service unit in the Division of Student Affairs. UREC serves the university community by providing a diverse selection of recreational opportunities and facilities, which are designed to enhance the quality of life for each participant.

All UARK students and current UREC members automatically have a membership to the UREC Tennis Center. All UREC Tennis memberships must be purchased at UREC facilities during membership office hours of operation.

University Recreation provides a wide array of recreational facilities and opportunities on campus. All UARK students have a UREC membership that is paid for through tuition and fees. Faculty, staff, alumni, and community may purchase a membership.

The mission of University Recreation is to empower students for success through recreation and wellness. The HPER building is the main facility for University Recreation and offers a wide array of recreational facilities including an Olympic-sized swimming pool, six racquetball courts, ping pong tables, and an indoor jogging track.
