U.S. Route 290 (US 290) is an east–west U.S. Highway located entirely within the state of Texas. Its western terminus is at Interstate 10 southeast of Segovia, and its eastern terminus is at Interstate 610 in northwest Houston. [1]

290 Toll upgraded the existing US 290 to a new expressway facility, which tripled the roadway’s capacity. It includes three tolled mainlanes and three non-tolled general-purpose lanes in each direction along US 290 from US 183 interchange to the eastern limits east of SH 130, with direct connectors at both US 183 and SH 130.

TxDOT is widening US 290 to an access-controlled facility with additional travel lanes through Oak Hill. The project will also remove traffic signals on the mainlanes, add frontage roads for local traffic, and add new flyovers between US 290 and SH 71.

TxDOT is conducting an environmental study to evaluate long-term safety and mobility solutions along US 290 from RM 1826 in southwest Austin to Rob Shelton Boulevard in Dripping Springs.
