Established on 1 November 1943, Fifteenth AF was a United States Army Air Forces combat air force deployed to the European Theater of World War II, bombing Europe from bases in southern Italy and engaging in air-to-air fighter combat against enemy aircraft.

2020年8月20日 · Fifteenth Air Force activated Aug. 20, integrating wings and direct reporting units from 12th Air Force and Ninth Air Force to form a new numbered air force responsible for generating and presenting Air Combat Command’s conventional forces.

Upon its transfer to Air Mobility Command in 1992, Fifteenth Air Force assumed responsibility for airlift and air refueling missions. Beginning in 2003, served as an expeditionary task force conducting air mobility operations in support of worldwide contingencies, humanitarian operations, exercises and other missions.
