2023年2月10日 · Please, please, please do NOT use a USB JBOD enclosure to add more drives. That way lies madness and loss of data. The ONLY proven way to use a JBOD enclosure is with a serial-attached SCSI (SAS) enclosure downstream of SAS expanders.

2016年4月30日 · I use a StarTech 2 bay USB 3 with UASP & eSATA for my backups. It's connected via eSATA and the silly controller is set to JBOD, (which says "Standard" on the front panel). One main goal was a fan, which many single drive eSATA enclosures don't include. It seems to work fine using it as a single drive external enclosure for my monthly backups.

2021年5月17日 · I have a Mobius 5-bay RAID/JBOD box that is in JBOD mode and connected to my TrueNAS server (12.0-U3.1) via USB 3.0. When I go to create a new storage pool with the 4 6TB drives from the Mobius only one shows up in the create storage pool window.

2023年2月1日 · If you can clarify what you mean by JBOD, that would be helpful. In some instances, JBOD implies the use of an external disk tray without any RAID controller, (so the disks appear as "Just a Bunch Of Disks"). Generally TrueNAS attempts to push the user into well supported choices, (aka pools with redundancy).

As an alternative I was thinking of buying a cheap used Supermicro motherboard with IPMI in the hopes that I could control the Fans, Power Supply as well provide power to the SAS expander without having a CPU in it.
