Bias Against DSF Units in the Coast Guard : r/uscg - Reddit
2016年12月4日 · Same thing for the PSU's, probably the most deployable and 'combat' oriented of the DSF's. They are primarily made up of reservists, which makes a lot of sense and saves a lot of money considering their mission profile. Second, you seem excited about the combat/armed forces aspect of these units, but that's not what makes a unit DSF.
Information on the Coast Guard's DSFs? : r/uscg - Reddit
Most DSF units are structured to be able to support any Combatant Command, if requested, and approved by USCG Headquarters. Past missions include port security abroad, maritime intercept operations for blockades, critical infrastructure protection (oil platforms), counter piracy operations, counter narcotics operations, environmental protection ...
TACLET, LETDET, and MSRT : r/uscg - Reddit
2016年6月19日 · DSF units have a global AOR. You may deploy to the CENTCOM AOR, GITMO, or anywhere really where your LE expertise is needed for the interests of Uncle Sam. LOTS of training, can't speak to op tempo of LEDET, but every DSF unit trains daily. LOTS of required capabilities means maintaining currency at the gun range, shoot house, and much more.
ME Questions : r/uscg - Reddit
Message me if you want specific input. I’ve been very fortunate as an ME with a family, but I know at some point there is a DSF unit in the future which will make it difficult for work/life balance. Over the two, however, I believe ME would be better quality of life wise, given the large presence that BMs have on cutters.
Leaving CIV LE for Coast Guard : r/uscg - Reddit
Honestly I would try your luck with an 1811 position if you’re looking for tactical law enforcement. DSF is a time limited tour in the CG. Also DSF isn’t actually all that cracked up to what people believe. It’s great training still at the end of the day.
Prior Navy DC2 : r/uscg - Reddit
2024年6月30日 · This is an un-official USCG Reddit page. Stop by and see what's going on in the fleet, or ask us a question you might have about the Coast Guard. We have a thread specifically for recruiting questions called "Bi-Weekly Recruiting Thread". Recruiting questions must be posted there first.
Whats the actual upside to MSRT? : r/uscg - Reddit
2023年8月17日 · What I can say is CG/ME/Taclet/MSRT Sector/Cutter Boarding is way more "real" then Air Force Security Force or Navy Master at Arms. Those guys stand at a gate checking IDs for years. CG you are actually stopping drugs and interacting with the public. So go ME, go DSF, be proud of what you actually are, an armed maritime security force.
r/uscg on Reddit: We should defund wasteful programs like DSF …
2020年2月29日 · We should defund wasteful programs like DSF and C-schools to better fund mission essentials like the Eagle, Coast Guard Band and masters degree programs for officers. Also trops should be worn 70-80% of the time.
How does joining MSRT/TACLET/MSST work? : r/uscg - Reddit
2022年12月3日 · I would like to join, and I want to do my first contract as IT because if I don't like the USCG I can get out and go to the civilian world with my degree, certificates, and hands-on job experience. Now, if I do fall in love with the USCG and decide to do more than 4 years I'll probably go ME or BW so I can have the chance of getting on a DSF.
MK or ME for LE experience : r/uscg - Reddit
My default advice is if you want to do LE no matter where you end up, and possible do “tacticool” DSF stuff be an ME. If you just want to probably do boardings, but also really want to do boat stuff, and are okay going to a river tender doing all Aton work with litttle or no LE, go BM or MK… there’s a bit of a dice roll aspect to.
