The M14 rifle, officially the United States Rifle, Caliber 7.62 mm, M14, is an American battle rifle chambered for the 7.62×51mm NATO cartridge.

The United States Marine Corps Designated Marksman Rifle (DMR, NSN 1005-01-458-6235; more formally the United States Rifle, Caliber 7.62 mm, M14, DMR) is a semi-automatic, gas-operated rifle chambered for the 7.62×51mm NATO cartridge. It is a modified version of the M14 rifle formerly used by the United States Marine Corps.

Based around the vintage M14 design, the Designated Marksman Rifle (DMR) is a 7.62mm x 51mm semi-automatic sniper rifle in service with the United States Marine Corps (USMC). As the name indicates, the DMR is designed for the Designated Marksman Role i.e. a medium-range sniper capability integrated at the squad level.
