The second USS Trippe (DD-33) was a Paulding-class destroyer in commission in the United States Navy from 1911 to 1919. She was named for Lieutenant John Trippe. She saw service during World War I. After Trippe′s U.S. Navy service ended, she served in the United States Coast Guard as USCGC Trippe (CG-20) from 1924 to 1931.

Gwin was launched by the Bethlehem Shipbuilding, San Pedro, Los Angeles on 9 April 1944; sponsored by Mrs. Jesse W. Tarbill, second cousin and sponsor of the previous Gwin (DD-433).

USS Trippe (Destroyer # 33, later DD-33), 1911-1934. USS Trippe, a 742-ton Paulding class destroyer built at Bath, Maine, was commissioned in March 1911. She operated in the western Atlantic and Caribbean areas during the six years leading up to U.S. entry into World War I.
