USS Patterson (Destroyer # 36, later DD-36), 1911-1934. Renamed DD-36 in 1933. USS Patterson, a 742-ton Paulding class destroyer, was built at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She was commissioned in October 1911 and spent the next five and a half years taking part in exercises and training along the Atlantic coast and in the Caribbean area.
