
USS Fiske
Our pride is in one of those "cans" called the USS Fiske. It began its life as a destroyer (DD), later became a radar picket destroyer (DDR), and then returned to the DD classification. She ended her career with the Turkish navy in the 90's.

2019年10月9日 · She is the second ship of the United States Navy named in honor of Rear Admiral Bradley A. Fiske, USN, a noted scientist and inventor. The FISKE was commissioned at the Boston Navy Yard at 1500 on 28 November 1945, with Commander C. H. Smith as its first Commanding Officer.
The USS FISKE was a Gearing Class destroyer, the last of the World War II design destroyers. She served in the US Navy from 1945 until 1980 and was subsequently transferred to the Turkish Navy where she served as the TCG Piyale Pasa (D350). The former FISKE was heavily damaged in 1996 when she ran aground and was scrapped in early 1999.

Membership is open to all who served aboard the USS Fiske, either Officer or Enlisted, from the time of her commissioning in 1945 until she was de-commissioned. Annual dues are $10.

Came aboard the Fiske at the shipyards in Charlestown, MA. Made several cruises (Gitmo, Caribbean, and Med), but the North Atlantic was worth all the time scraping and punching tubes!!! Shipmates were excellent.

2020年11月8日 · Fiske was home ported in Bayonne, NJ and scheduled for overhaul in Boston. Unfortunately, the Boston shipyard had been closed and they sent us to a bicycle repair shop that had never worked on a man of war before.
