Interior Architecture and Design at the Fay Jones School of Architecture and Design educates and prepares its students for a rewarding and successful career in the profession. Students develop strong design and technical skills through experimentation, discovery and invention.

University of Arkansas students who are in good academic standing and who’ve completed at least 24 credit hours on our campus are eligible to look into study abroad. Every study abroad program could have it’s own requirements beyond these basics, so check with the program application for more on the specific expectations for your program.

The Interior Architecture and Design program at the University of Arkansas originated in 1974 in the Department of Home Economics. After several changes, the degree became the Bachelor of Interior Design (B.I.D.) in 1999-2000, and the program joined the Fay Jones School of Architecture and Design in July 2010.

A portfolio is required to be submitted for review, and students must have a 2.500 GPA average in IARD/ARCH coursework. (All courses required to be taken during this semester.) Develops conceptual and practical knowledge of digital techniques on architectural and interior design production. The degree requires 124 semester credit hours and typically requires four years, or eight semesters, plus one summer session.
