UAM Coordination and Assessment Team (UCAT) Mr. Davis Hackenberg, NASA’s strategic advisor for UAM, presented an overview of the agency’s current and planned activities related to UAM, beginning with a brief history of the “whirlwind” of activity accomplished since the UCAT was formed in the December 2017 and January 2018 timeframe.
Help to educate federal, state and local authorities on UAM societal value & safety –Achieve public acceptance sooner and reduce potential for push-back. Leverage NASA investment in UAM test ranges and integrated simulation facilities – Eliminates the need for industry to invest their own resources for these items.
Objective: Identify NASA vehicles to serve as references to openly discuss technology challenges common to multiple concepts in the UAM community and provide focus for trade studies and system analysis
Assessment Team (UCAT) developed in 2018 and 2019. In 2018 it was decided to produce the two OpsCons – one for passenger-carrying operations and one for small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (sUAS) –
