Umiujaq (Inuktitut: ᐅᒥᐅᔭᖅ) is a northern village (Inuit community) near the eastern shore of Hudson Bay in Nunavik in northern Quebec, Canada. The village was established in 1986 by Inuit from Kuujjuarapik, 160 km to the south, who decided to relocate away from the area affected by the James Bay Hydro-electric Project.

Umiujaq is surrounded by mountains and is best visited on foot. It’s home to Lac Wiyâshâkimî, Québec’s second-largest natural lake, whose diverse wildlife includes seals and belugas. The village also boasts a collection of traditional tools and objects, as well as archeological artifacts.

From the cliffs of Richmond Gulf there is a spectacular view to the west of Hudson Bay and the nearby Nastapoka Islands. Loons, eider ducks and peregrine falcons nest therein summer. Nastapoka River is located 30 km to the north and is home to scenic 30 metres high waterfalls.

UMIUJAQ means “hill that resembles an umiaq" . The community of Umiujaq is in an area where wildlife is especially abundant: it is possible to hunt caribou, beluga whales and seals, as well as fish.
