2021年1月1日 · The normal 404 input shaft likely cannot handle the torque from the TDI in first and reverse gear but the 4 and 5th gear of the 404 are pretty stout so they might.. So the key here would be if the TDI 4Th gear with the the 5th gear could still be configured as an overdrive.

2009年10月24日 · I've got one I'm reconditioning in the back garden at the moment. A propper unimog 404 fibreglass hard top. It took me all year to find, but they are about. 2 came up on ebay within a week of each other. I ended up buying a whole cab to get the hard top. I payed less for the cab complete than the cost of a new canvass.

2016年6月24日 · My 404 has leaped in to action 100%, Take off is tons smoother now, going through the gears 100% better, top speed eceeds the spec speed of 45 mph. Before I upgraded I couldn't get anywhere close to 40 mph with the old Military ignition, with the new civilian ignition I'm able to get up to and sustain over 50 mph (80+ km).

2011年1月11日 · Unimog-S 404 I corresponded with him recently, so I am quite sure he is still offering them. I doubt you will find a source here in the states unless someone decided to go a different direction and has one of his kits available. I have personally installed one of his kits and I was pleased with the quality and function.

2015年1月14日 · I used the original Unimog 404 24V starter (the OM617 starter OD is too large to fit against the OM617 now that the flex plate is replaced by the smaller diameter flywheel). As for a spare 404 starter, they are still available through vendors supplying Unimog parts here in the US (Expedition Imports, Eurotruck-imports, Eurotech-services, etc.).
