2010年10月20日 · Until Genelec started dominating the studio, Urei 813 were by far the most popular large format studio monitors among the major recording studios worldwide. Since 813 ($5500) was much more expensive than the other competitive monitors, ie. JBL 4430 ($2500) and 4435 ($3500), many prosumer users and small studios bought 4430 / 811 instead.

2019年4月12日 · The first time I went to a sys-aud-con clinic with Don and Carolyn Davis I was introduced to the Urei 813 and all the electronics. Ken Warenbach and his PZM microphones were another revelation. I have loved Bessel Arrays, Urie 813's and electronics ever since. I still use the crossovers.

2025年1月20日 · Good evening. I have a pair of naked (no cabinet) UREI 813 monitors. They use the Altec 604-8G driver and a 15" Eminence helper woofer. I have the crossovers and, apart from a bad HF diaphragm and a screwed up blue UREI horn, they work well. My main quandary is this - I had no choice but to leave the original soffit cabinets behind.

2024年2月15日 · Where the UREI 813's were mounted into a wall with 4 to 6 inch thick acoustic material surrounding them and the side wall till perpendicular to the listening position and then the rear of the room had multi faceted panels to break up the rear reflected waves into a homogeneous sound that the ears didn't really recognize.

2019年4月17日 · A 416 woofer will reach further down the spectrum in a large infinite baffle compared to a 515. With the cost of current 515's I would rather have a pair of 416's to combine with Altec horn. They reach down to 20HZ where a single 515 has trouble below 35 hz. My favorite Altec system is a Urei 813 monitor speaker.

2024年6月23日 · I have the UREI 809 Monitors, which use the 12" JBL coaxial driver (2425H Tweeter with a 2214 equiv woofer). The paperwork I have for the larger 811, 813, and 815 systems doesn't list the specific crossover or driver numbers. Here is a comparison of the regular JBL 2214 driver (from a JBL L100T) and the version used as the UREI coaxial.

2020年8月24日 · All the drivers in your list would work in an aperiodic enclosure. But since the aim is to have a lower Q-factor, it doesn’t make any sense to use a high QTS driver. Urei 813 series latest version 813C used JBL 2215A driver.

2024年12月31日 · I'm the proud new owner of a cheap, "unhoused" pair of UREI 813 monitors, built in 1979 with no letter and the Altec 604-8G drivers. Sadly, I was unable to take the original soffit cabinets they were mounted in due to their immense size and very poor condition. Thus, I only have the drivers and crossovers.

2024年9月29日 · The the only difference would be the quality of the magnets. Personnally I would sell both and start over again trying to find to matching 8G's with very close serial numbers and the same numbers on the cones. Have you thought of looking for some Urei 813 G's instead.
