2010年4月3日 · Ureilites are a group of enigmatic achondrites that resemble ultramafic rocks found on evolved planetary bodies like Earth. They consist mainly of large olivine and pyroxene grains, often with a foliated texture, and contain dark interstitial material composed of carbon, metal, sulfides, and minor silicates.

This is 1 of 660 approved meteorites classified as Ureilite. Published in Meteoritical Bulletin, no. 85, MAPS 36, A293-A322 (2001) History: The meteorite was found in 2014 during a field trip in the Oman desert. Physical characteristics: Brownish individual lacking any fusion crust.

Ureilites are carbonaceous ultramafic rocks that represent the second largest group of achondrite meteorites with 40 known specimens (Table U6). Only eucrites (q.v.) are more numerous.

Abstract— Ureilites are coarse-grained ultramafic rocks whose petrography, mineral chemistry, lithophile element bulk chemistry, and Sm-Nd isotopic systematics suggest that they are highly fractionated igneous rocks and thus are products of common planetary differentiation processes.

2004年11月8日 · Ureilitic breccias provide considerable information that cannot be obtained from the monomict samples, and help to fill in those gaps. Fourteen ureilites are polymict breccias (at least three of which contain solar wind gases) that formed in a regolith.

Approximately 50–70% of these are ureilites (ultramafic achondrites). The rest are chondrites, mainly enstatite, ordinary, and Rumuruti types. The goal of this work is to understand how fragments of so many different types of parent bodies became mixed in the same asteroid.

2022年3月16日 · Ureilites have an average δ 60/58 Ni value of 0.26 ± 0.13‰ (2SD, N = 22) that is highly consistent with that of chondrites with δ 60/58 Ni = 0.23 ± 0.14‰ (2SD, N = 37), which suggests that planetary core formation does not effectively fractionate Ni stable isotopes.
