2010年2月6日 · Resource usage of Usermin is similar to, but separate from Webmin (Usermin is not a module of Webmin; it is a separate server, and it drops privileges and performs actions as the logged in user, making it safer for some use cases). i.e. Usermin on a 32 bit system takes about 10-12MB of memory. In short:

Changed the Usermin port to 19988. Webmin -> Webmin -> Usermin Configuration-> Ports and Addresses. Browse to myserver.com:9988; I could not find this documented anywhere and every example only talked about changing the Webmin default port only. Accidentally clicking on the Usermin configuration is an easy mistake to make.

The solution is to try logging into Usermin instead of Webmin. One tiny aside: There is a Usermin module in Webmin, but it is for the system administrator to configure Usermin. It is not Usermin. (Just like the Apache module in Webmin is not Apache, it is merely a UI for configuring it.)

Note (for future readers) that Webmin also supports the sudoers file; any users that have ALL permissions (i.e. they can become root at will on the command line) will be allowed to login to Webmin and have full access.

I'm setting up a fresh Ubuntu netty 11.04 instance on AWS and needed Usermin to allow my "Ubuntu" user account to login. The problem is that the "ubuntu" user uses ssh keys to log into the server. I tried creating a new account with password and Usermin allowed it to login. My question is, how can Usermin allow access to my "Ubuntu" user?

Does it work locally on the server where webmin is installed (ie. http[s]://127.0.0.1:10000)? If you don't want to install a graphical webbrowser to test this, just try it with wget or something.

Administration panels are off topic. Even the presence of an administration panel on a system, because they take over the systems in strange and non-standard ways, making it difficult or even impossible for actual system administrators to manage the servers normally, and tend to indicate low-quality questions from users with insufficient knowledge for this site.
