Need a new boiler, any opinion on Utica Boilers? - Heating Help
Utica Boilers / ECR / Pennco, etc Hi, I have a Pennco boiler, essentiall the same as the Utica JD series. It was installed in 1975 and it's still doing fine, knock on wood! Like Burnham Boilers, cast iron boilers from ECR / Utica / Pennco are assembled with cast iron push nipples and they also have stainless steel burners.

Steam Weil McLain VS Burnham, Utica, or Peerless?
Steam Boilers I personally like Peerless. I've installed some some smaller steam boilers by them. I've also installed Burnham and Weil-McLain, Dunkirk, and L.E.S(not a big fan!). Serviced lots of Kewaunees. Just Preference, I guess.

Utica?Dunkirk It's the same boiler, different names. Utica makes great boilers, I have been installing their cast iron boilers for over 20 years, and I have a few of the newest SSC series high efficiency boilers installed. Quality and customer support is outstanding. It'll cost a lot more than the cheapest boilers, because it's a great product.

I haven't worked on the Utica Tri Fire but I've worked on several other Utica boilers. I've never had any problems with them. They seem to be just as durable as other cast iron boilers and 30-40 year lifespan can be achieved easily with a quality installation and proper service.

I must say though that we purchased a Utica boiler since we expected that our local techs to be well versed in a nearby boiler company's products. That was clearly a mistake. We also expected that Utica would take a more proactive role in fixing a "local" problem on a brand new boiler. Clearly we were wrong on both counts. We live and learn.
