Under the hood they installed a 4.0 L S65B40 V8 producing 450 hp on a Syvecs ECU. The motor features ARP rod bolts, BE bearings, shortened and baffled oil pan, and E92 M3 radiator. Factory exhaust headers connect to a custom stainless steel exhaust. The V8 was previously paired with a DCT seven-speed transmission.

2010年5月9日 · The V8 5 speed transmission is comparable to the E30 M3 sports transmission which is much wider and shorter. It fits loosely in position 2 in the E30 transmission tunnel. If motor position three is used the transmission tunnel has to be modified.

2020年11月8日 · The V8 Swaps. All the v8 swaps into e30s have one major flaw, the braking system. The motor being so wide that the brake booster has to be moved or removed. Which adds a whole nother level of complexity to the swap. It can also greatly change the braking performance of the e30. M60/ M62

2023年6月21日 · This BMW E30 318i called “Bulldog” originally came with a 1.8 L inline-four. It was sent to Atelier Classic Cars in Poland for more power. The company swapped the inline-four for a 4.0 L M60B40 V8. The change made for 282 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque. After a couple of years the E30 returned for another swap.
