VDB can supply images for publicity, promotion and educational use with each rental or purchase order. VDB asks for a credit line to accompany the publication of promotional images. Subject to additional fees, VDB can supply images for academic use and print publication.

VDB can provide two kinds of widely supported digital versions for use in screenings or exhibitions: H.264 or Apple ProRes 422 video in an MOV container. The H.264 video codec is widely used on the web and consumer video devices including Blu-ray players. Our H.264 files are less compressed, therefore higher quality, than DVD video.

This catalog was originally published in 1966 by Sidney van den Bergh and contains 159 reflection nebulae. According to the author it contains information for all BD and CD stars north of -33 deg which are surrounded by reflection nebulosity visible on both the blue and red prints of the Palomar Sky Survey.

2024年1月21日 · Sidney van den Bergh published his vdB catalog of reflection nebulae in 1966. It was later expanded by one for a total of 159. The collection encompassed all reflection nebulosity visible on the Palomar Sky Survey north of -33 degrees latitude. These nebulae are difficult visual targets but most make for excellent imaging targets.

Also known as Barnard 175, vdB 152 is a reflection nebula atop of a dark Bok globule. Embedded in the top right side of the nebula is the Herbig Haro object HH 450, a jet emitted from a newly forming star. The thin, red filaments in the upper-right corner of the image are the remnants of a supernova explosion.
