The VK 45.02 (P) was the official designation for an unsuccessful heavy tank project designed by Ferdinand Porsche in Nazi Germany during World War II to compete with Henschel's design. Despite Dr. Porsche’s hopes to win the heavy tank competition, only one of his tanks would ever see action on the Eastern Front as a command vehicle.

A total of 10 tanks were created (7 of them with a tower of the first design with a low roof). These 10 prototypes were produced in two five-piece series. The first series was characterized by narrower fenders (600 mm), the second series had fenders 700 mm wide.

2024年11月13日 · This Takom kit represents the second prototype in the series between the VK45.01(H) Tiger I and the VK45.03(H) Tiger II. Officially designated VK45.02(H) in April 1942, it was effectively discontinued by October.

The VK45.02(H) would be armed with Porsche's VK45.02 turret, the same turret used on the first 50 serial Tiger IIs, and an 8,8cm KwK 43 L/71 cannon. As production plans for the Tiger II were being finalized, Henschel was still under contract to produce 424 more Tigers.
