Our Vessel Monitoring System (VMS) allows our members to track and monitor fishing activities across the region. The VMS is a satellite-based system that monitors the position, speed and direction of registered fishing vessels. Accessible to all our member countries, it is based out of our regional headquarters.

2025年3月10日 · The approved structure of the WCPFC VMS system allows vessels to report to the WCPFC through two ways: i) directly to the WCPFC VMS, or ii) to the WCPFC through the FFA VMS. In respect of vessels reporting through the FFA VMS (option ii)), FFA requirements determine the ALC units that are able to be used for this purpose.

The WCPFC operates a Vessel Monitoring System (Commission VMS) to assist in the management and conservation of highly migratory fish stocks in the Western and Central Pacific Ocean. In December 2008, a Service Level Agreement (SLA) was formalised with FFA for the provision of the WCPFC VMS services.

2024年3月21日 · The Pacific Islands Forum Fisheries Agency (FFA) on Wednesday launched a major upgrade and development to their monitoring and surveillance efforts, with two new systems built for vessel registrations and Port State Measures.

Trackwell is providing FFA and WCPFC with a new customized VMS solution, in a hosted environment. The systems offer extensive monitoring and alerting options for the 3,000 vessels reporting actively to the systems, using various types of vessel units or Mobile Transceiver Units (MTUs) and communication service providers.
