On 9/10 March a PAVN bombardment of Pleiku AB destroyed an O-1, a CH-47 and ten UH-1s. During the four-day Battle of Ban Me Thuot the RVNAF flew over 200 sorties, destroying five PAVN tanks, no aircraft were lost in the air, but three A-37s at Pleiku were destroyed by 122 mm rockets on 11 March when the PAVN rocketed the base.

2015年1月19日 · Vietnam UH-1H “Huey” Helicopter. From 1965 to 1973, the Bell UH-1, officially named “Iroquois” was the most common utility helicopter used in Vietnam. The “Huey” nickname stuck thanks to her early “HU-1” designation (it was later redesignated to UH-1 with the normalization of 1962).

The Vietnamese Air Force (VNAF) 255th Helicopter Squadron was based in Soc Trang. It was part of the 84th Tactical Wing of the 4th VNAF Air Division, and flew Bell UH-1 Iroquois "Huey" helicopters. Like other VNAF helicopter squadrons, the 255th served a variety of functions in support of ground operations.

During service in the Vietnam War, the UH-1 was used for various purposes and various terms for each task abounded. UH-1s tasked with a ground attack or armed escort role were outfitted with rocket launchers, grenade launchers, and machine guns.
