2025年1月13日 · VWD is a genetic disorder caused by missing or defective von Willebrand factor (VWF), a clotting protein. VWF binds factor VIII, a key clotting protein, and platelets in blood vessel walls, which help form a platelet plug during the clotting process.

It is caused by deficiency or abnormalities of von Willebrand factor (vWD), a clotting protein that is required for platelet clumping and stabilization of Factor VIII. There are 3 main types of vWD, ranging from type 1, which is usually mild, and type 3, which is more severe.

Von Willebrand disease, or VWD, is a genetic (inherited) bleeding disorder that prevents blood from clotting properly. Bleeding disorders (including hemophilia) are rare.
