2019年5月4日 · The U.S. Mint started adding the P mm to nickels, dimes, quarters and halves in 1980. Prior to that all Philly minted coins had no mm (except 1942-45 war nickels and 1979 SBA dollars).

2021年1月2日 · The quarter is a sandwich coin. With an inner core of copper sandwiched by outer layers of nickel/copper. As explained the nickels can be black beauties as they are an alloy of 75% copper and 25% nickel. The planchets are annealed before being rolled out.

2017年6月10日 · Some of the later dates are still seen in AU-53 but early dates like a nice well made '71 or '69 are few and far between. Such coins virtually don't exist at all any longer. You can't just take an uncirculated but ugly and poorly made 1971 quarter and turn it into a beautiful AU because it would still be ugly.

2021年2月27日 · with no plans on selling it (except for melt value) then you can raise the date just for your own curiosity. White vinegar and a splash of hydrogen peroxide works on raising dates on Buffalo nickels, but it leaves the coin unnaturally white. So, go easy on the peroxide.
