Do I need a clear finish on my stained porch ceiling?
2020年9月25日 · "Ultimate Polyurethane Water Based" is what it said on the tin. The blue cans are water-based. That stuff sure did dry clear. Looks like the wood went right back to being dry after it was done. That being said though, if you wanted to bring out the richness of the stain then I'd go with the Spar or the oil-based Varathane stuff personally.
Shellac or Lacquer for the tweed? What's the difference?
2011年3月22日 · I use both amber and clear shellac on my tweed cabs and also on wood cabs. I use amber until the right hue is achieved, and then use clear for any further coats. I have also used lacquer with success. I would strongly recommend against using varathane or polyurethane.

2021年10月5日 · Polyester or polyurethane so, we know what you're referring to because they're 2 entirely different things and you can't talk about both at the same time. The thing is, I'd bet 99% of people likely can't tell one from the other visually, even though they're quite different.

2023年4月10日 · I think it depends on many factors. I'm used to spray clear high solid polyurethane as my sealer, if you want a harder sealer or a thick sense finish, you can spray some polyester primer coat on it. For open grain wood, I use waterbased grain filler first.
