2020年8月28日 · I recently posted a guide to use xrdp in order to achieve a full desktop GUI in WSL2, however it's been brought to my attention that my reasons for using xrdp over VcXsrv weren't completely correct, so I tried VcXsrv again, and not only is the experience better with a higher refresh rate and audio passthrough to the GUI, but the setup is also shorter.

2017年1月9日 · VcXsrv handles screen-shots correctly when you Alt-Tab between windows, and puts proper icons in the task-bar. I haven't got that working with the Xming public domain version. Xming comes with more programs to start-up, VcXsrv relies on Xlaunch.

2022年3月12日 · You can put the following in your .wslconfig file (and restart WSL2): [wsl2] guiApplications=false . This way WSLg will be disabled but you can still use the X servers (like VcXsrv or the other convenient tools that use it like GWSL) which can use X over TCP or X over vsock (there's WSLD which uses vsock for a more stable & reliable connection).

When starting VcXsrv you should follow marha’s instructions in his answer and add C:/Windows/Fonts, within the -fp argument list. (Notice that you must use forward slash / instead of backward slash \ in the path.) If this still doesn’t work, try Cygwin/X. The performance is not as good as VcXsrv but it works well.

2021年6月27日 · Using vcXsrv results in many of the programs UIs I use being rendered nearly impossible to use. There is one for example called DS9. The sub-menu UIs are always broken to the point where they become frameless windows that can not be moved, closed or modified. WSLg because of it's internal window decorations fixes this many years long issue.
