For six-ish years, riders there have been asking Kawasaki to make this machine. If Team Green obliges, y’all better put your money where your mouth is!

A Versys X-400 would have better power to weight ratio than the KLR and comparable capabilities on- and off-road. The 650 reference was to point out the already existing street focused adventure style bike in the lineup, and plausible R&D efforts that Kawasaki might pursue in my opinion.

2020年5月26日 · My understanding is the 400 is a completely new and different engine. Unlike the 300 where it is nearly identical to the 250. The engine in the Versys X300 is a stressed member of the frame. So creating a Versys 400 would be a complete redesign of the bike, not just replacing the engine.

2017年10月26日 · Versys-X 300 coming back in 2018; New "EX400GJ and EX400HJ" coming in 2018 (this is most likely the Ninja 400) No filing for the existing Ninja 300; No filing for the new Ninja 250; So for 2018, the Ninja 300 is discontinued and replaced by the Ninja 400. The 400 will probably make its USA debut at the Long Beach IMS show this November.

I mean, maybe it’s not officially “inside information” but I’ve been waiting for this bike (and lurking in this forum) since 2018 as a potential replacement for my 2012 Tiger 800XC.

2017年10月26日 · I used to be of the opinion that an Adventure bike, like a competent dirt bike, had to have a 21". But I found the 300 Versys' 19 to be fine for all intended purposes. I'm not at all regretful of using 19 on the 400 either. The (or a) big advantage of the 21 is less loss of "apparent trail" in soft conditions.

2017年10月26日 · AFAIC Versys 300 is dead. Versys 500? Kawasaki does not currently have a 500 cc engine and it is not likely they would develop one for just one model of motorcycle. However, Kawasaki does have a new, capable EURO5 400 cc engine. In short, the most probable new-for-2021 machine is a Versys (or KLR?) 400 using the Z400 / Ninja 400 engine.
